ITACA | Abergele Youth Action
A potted History!
In September 2001 a number of local people responded to the rise in anti social behaviour in our community by forming "Abergele Youth Action". Those people included representatives form the community, both voluntary and statutory and included Mr Nayland Southorn (Head Teacher at the local Comprehensive School) and Mrs Linda Tavernor (a voluntary worker with many years experience in community youth work).
Mission Statement:
"To promote the development of moral, spiritual, social and responsible attitudes and behaviour of young people within their local community by ensuring the provision of a wide range of quality activities."
The aims:
- To establish working together and links between:
- Young people
- Parents and guardians
- The Police
- The Youth Service
- Local Authorities
- Local Schools
- Colleges
- Local churches
- Local businesses
- Support agencies
- Charitable organisations
- Voluntary organisations
- To improve facilities and to expand opportunities for the young people in our community
The Constitution:
Abergele Youth Action was constituted in 2002 and registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee in January 2005. The company registration number is 5334541
Strategic Plan:
The strategic plan is in line with the aims and objectives of Abergele Youth Action and forms part of long term planning within identified priorities.
This plan focuses on identified priorities reflecting:
- The need to provide a wide range of quality activities for young people
- The need to promote Social Inclusion
- The need to promote good citizenship
- The need to promote positive involvement in the community
- Issues felt to be important in Community Safety
- The need to reduce youth crime
Volunteering
Abergele Youth Action is looking for people to volunteer to help with the young people's activities. This could involve helping to supervise activities in the park, going on outings or outdoor pursuits.
