ITACA | Abergele Youth Action Projects
Fun bus
An annual grant from Abergele Town Council make it possible for us to employ the "Responses" Fun Bus and provide open access play activities in Pentre Mawr Park throughout the summer months for lots of young people aged between 11 and 18. As well as playing on the bus and bouncing on the huge inflatable spider, these sessions make full use of the "MUGA" (multi use games area) as well as the tennis courts and skate board park. Barbeques also prove to be popular with the young people.
Discos
During the winter months discos have been enjoyed by many young people in Abergele, Towyn and Kinmel Bay.
Reaching Out
Funding from PACT (Police Authority Community Trust) enables Abergele Youth Action and Local Community Police to work in partnership to engage young people that are on the verge of disaffection and anti social behaviour and encourages positive relationships to develop between young people, local businesses, statutory and voluntary youth provisions and the local police force.
The project addresses issues of crime prevention, community safety, drugs misuse/prevention and social inclusion.
A group of young people have recently enjoyed a paint balling session in St George accompanied by members of the local Police Force whilst another group are looking forward to taking part in a high ropes activity.
Another group are preparing a graffiti art mural to be applied to an underpass between Pensarn and Abergele.
