Personal stuff
- Never tell anybody you address, phone number or other personal information without your parent/guardian's permission
- Never send anybody your picture, credit card or bank details or other personal details without your parent/guardian's permission
- Never give your password to anybody
- Never arrange to meet anyone you met online without your parent's permission
Chat rooms
- Never stay in a chat room if somebody says something that makes you feel worried or uncomfortable. Always tell a responsible adult if this happens
- All people you meet in chat rooms are strangers, even though they may seem like a friend
- Do not pretend to be anybody or anything you are not, always be yourself
- Always stay in the public area of a chat room, where everybody can see the information - this makes it safer
- Never reply to nasty, suggestive or rude emails
- If somebody makes you an offer that is too good to be true, it probably is
- On receiving emails from strangers, always delete the attachments without opening them, they could contain viruses
- Never send chain letters, they are forbidden on the internet. If you receive one, inform your parent/guardian who can advise your Internet Service Provider
