ITACA

One Year On

Celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the opening of Itaca... were held on Tuesday 19th December 2006 with special guest Edwina Hart AM MBE Minister for Social Justice and Regeneration. She was accompanied by Alun Pugh AM for Clwyd West who is a regular visitor to the centre.

She was quoted as saying:

This is a well thought out project that helps all members of the community. I am delighted to see people have the opportunity to develop their IT skills and earn qualifications which will help them gain employment, or move on to a better job.

The cyber cafe plays an important role in the life of the community by providing a range of essential services for young people as well as promoting social inclusion and good citizenship.

It is an example of how the policies of the Welsh Assembly Government can make a positive impact on the lives of families in the community.

Guests included representatives from Conwy Key Fund, Canllaw Online, Fujitsu, European Social Fund, Rural Community Action, Abergele Town Council, Conlan International, North Wales Police, The Open College Network, Conwy Voluntary Services Council, local businesses, local community users and young people.
