ITACA | Training
We are an approved Agored Cymru (formerly Open College Network Wales) provider and have a wide range of courses on offer.
Small teaching groups and innovative teaching methods are used which cater for the specific needs of the attendees. The courses are delivered in a non threatening environment which is comfortable, relaxed and not daunting.
When new skills are learned, the sense of achievement leads to increased self confidence, self worth and empowerment thus increasing employment opportunities and benefiting not only the individuals but the local community by way of contributing to increased economic activity. Those attending and completing the course requirements will receive an OCN certificate appropriate to their progress and by nurturing a 'learning culture' it is expected that the attendees will consider further training opportunities.
We propose to continue and extend our existing programme of activities and at the same time continue to develop programmes in relation to the specific needs of the people in our community.
Who can attend?
- Those over the age of 16
- Those who are unemployed
- Those who are seeking to enhance their IT skills
- Those wanting to improve their job opportunities
- Those wishing to learn new IT skills
PACE (Partners in Alternative Curriculum Education)
This is a group of 12 year 11 pupils from the local school who follow an alternative curriculum that best suits their individual needs. They have attended Itaca... on a part time basis for IT skills as well as following a Thinking Skills course which has been developed by the Citizenship Foundation. These courses have been hugely successful and many of these pupils are continuing their education at local colleges or entering employment. They have also enjoyed a range of outdoor activities which have helped to build a team spirit as well as being challenging experiences.
